Interview Author's Guide
Thanks for helping us make chiplace.org an interesting place by agreeing to do an interview!
We currently have no official editorial guidelines about how an interview should look, but be creative! Feel free to use HTML (if you know it) to improve the look of the interview.
To help the interview appear in a normal interview format (a new line each time the speaker changes with bold speaker names), you may have to use the following HTML tags:
- Bold tags: use a "<b>" before the word you want bold, "</b>" after the word.
- Paragraph tags to start a new paragraph with a space between lines: "<p>" before the new paragraph (needs no closing '</p>').
Here's how the process works. We have decided to try out the Slashdot model of interviews. This takes place in two phases:
- Submit a new interview announcement
Say something to the effect, "We plan to interview X, who is interesting because Y. If you have any questions for X, comment below, and we'll include them." See for example "Find Out About The Future of Science". Make sure to solicit these questions at least one week in advance to encourage questions from the CHIplace community.
- Submit content that contains the interview questions and the subject's answers.
See for example "The Future of Science Revealed!".
In order to do this:
- Visit http://www.chiplace.org.
- Create an account if you don't have one.
- Submit both the interview announcement and the resulting interview using the "Submit Interview" link on the left.
If you have any suggestions to make our interview process better, feel free to let us know.
