Navigating Content
There are several kinds of content available on CHIplace.org:
- Discussions
- Interviews
- Job Openings
- Book Reviews
- Conference Links
- Other information about our Web site
Discussions
Discussions differ from most other content, because they are presented in a "forum" format. In discussions, you are able to perform several functions:
- Manage the way the posts appear
- View topics and posts under that topic
- Post replies in already created topics
You can organize the way your discussions appear, including whether or not to show new posts, show unanswered posts, or mark all forums as read. The buttons available on the opening page will help you navigate the options. A legend at the bottom of the page is available to help you interpret symbols in the discussion.
If you would like to start a new forum, send us email with your request. To learn more about this, review our Discussion forum request FAQ.
Interviews
To access Interviews, click on the "Interviews" section and click on the link to the Interview of interest. For more information on structure and method for interviewing, please view the Interview Guide link under "CHIplace.org" or view our Interview FAQ.
Job Openings
Job openings work the same way as Interviews. Click on the "Book Reviews" link, then choose the particular book review you would like to read.
Conference Links
Conference links are links to upcoming CHI/HCI conferences with additional information about the conference's usual subject matter. You can access these links by clicking on the "Conference Links" link and clicking on your link of interest.
Entering Content
To enter content, you must be a member of CHIplace.org. If you have registered, you can submit content by clicking on any link under "Submit Content." You will be able to enter in the fields (first large text box is for the abstract, the second large text box, 'Extended Text,' is for the bulk of your information), preview your entry, and submit your writing or request to Administration.
Do not be alarmed if your content does not appear automatically. Our Administration approves all content on this site except for discussion posting. To learn more about this, visit our Entering Content FAQ.
To read about entering a Job Posting, visit our Job Posting FAQ
Administration will approve all requests and submissions.
Note: Administration will approve nearly all requests and submissions, except those that are inappropriate for this site's purpose.
Homepage Information
Certain articles, interviews, job postings, and active forums may be featured on the "index" page. These will change depending on the content submitted. If you would like to find this information after it no longer exists on the index page, please refer to the "Topics of Interest" page and review the previous postings.
If you would like additional information regarding these subjects, or if you would like more information about login, changes to the site, or navigation/submission issues, please refer to the FAQ link under "CHIplace.org."
We hope you have an educational, thought-provoking experience participating on CHIplace.org.
