Synopsis of Position: Starting with business requirements and user needs analysis, this Information Architect position conceives, creates, and refines use cases, site maps, flows, wireframes, and prototypes for web based and client-based products. The qualified candidate will be adept at balancing business goals, user needs, and technological affordances and constraints. She/he will have experience with user-centered design techniques and the industry standard design/development tools listed below. In addition, designing user interfaces in a fast-paced development environment creating interfaces for web and client software products. Experience creating site maps, wireframes, flows, CAR tables and prototypes is required. Strong conceptual design skills as well as coding experience are necessary. This individual will need to be proactive and have demonstrated the ability to generate ideas and initiate action while achieving results. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Required Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: Bachelor Degree in Interaction Design, with 7 + years of experience. Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Dreamweaver and Photoshop or Fireworks skills a must.

Desired Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: Masters Degree. IA experience, preferably within the high-tech, computer software or Internet industry segments.

PayPal is looking for a user interaction designer who will be responsible for designing PayPal's large scale web-based application and/or our internal agent systems and tools. The ideal candidate will have previous experience designing for a variety of users within one platform, experience with small business users, experience with internationalized systems and experience designing an application.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of interface design experience.
Preferred educational background should include a BA/BS or MA/MS in Human Computer Interaction or an MFA in Design. Familiarity with the following technologies required: HTML, CSS, XML, CGI, ASP, JSP (or other similar scripting languages).     Requirements:
  • Proven ability to develop and lead solid content solutions thorough knowledge of steps required in the content management process to staff projects effectively, provide guidance to achieve stated direction, give timely and helpful coaching to improve content, and produce all work on schedule. This includes knowing what is required and needed to achieve content vision, i.e. company and industry style, intellectual property, legal approval, copyright issues, support and customer impact and more.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships across organizations.
  • Must have experience in content management, editing, copywriting or writing, along with a familiarity for the content requirements of websites in general, including online help, informational and marketing content.
  • Must have a complete understanding of the basics of HTML and the unique requirements of writing for the web.
  • Demonstrate very strong communication skills (both oral and written) to enable him/her to lead the content team and present concepts.
  • Have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field from a 4-year University or College of Art. A Masters in Business, Management or Marketing is required.
  • Have at least 10 years work experience in this or a related field. Should have experience working with websites.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in direct people management.

    There is a Human-Computer Interaction research opening within the Department of Computer and Systems Engineering in the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', Italy. The department <http://www.dis.uniroma1.it> has a long tradition of working on user interaction related issues. Its overall contribution can be regarded as one of the first and most significant examples of deep analysis and formalization of the interaction between the user and the database/data, which takes into consideration both usability issues and language related aspects.

    Applicants should have one-year minimum experience in carrying out research. They should also have qualifications and/or experience in Human-Computer Interaction and a good Computer Science background (applicants coming from Computer Science are preferred).

    The research position is initially a one-year contract, with the possibilty of renewing it two times, amounting to three years in total. As part of its expansion, the Department is seeking a third faculty member to join the strong HCI group spearheaded by Saul Greenberg and Sheelagh Carpendale. The Department especially encourages applications by Computer Scientists who are just completing their PhD in HCI or who are a few years out of the program. Current interests of this group includes groupware, ubiquitous and tangible computing, information visualization, interaction toolkits and a host of other activities. Desired skills include extensive programming experience with Windows MFC, Win32, and PalmOS, along with experience with writing documentation, authoring web pages, and running and evaluating user tests. The new person will collaborate on student and faculty research and development projects, help get software ready for widespread distribution and use, interact with current and future users, and will likely be a co-author of published articles.
