Synopsis of Position: Starting with business requirements and user needs analysis, this Information Architect position conceives, creates, and refines use cases, site maps, flows, wireframes, and prototypes for web based and client-based products. The qualified candidate will be adept at balancing business goals, user needs, and technological affordances and constraints. She/he will have experience with user-centered design techniques and the industry standard design/development tools listed below. In addition, designing user interfaces in a fast-paced development environment creating interfaces for web and client software products. Experience creating site maps, wireframes, flows, CAR tables and prototypes is required. Strong conceptual design skills as well as coding experience are necessary. This individual will need to be proactive and have demonstrated the ability to generate ideas and initiate action while achieving results. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Required Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: Bachelor Degree in Interaction Design, with 7 + years of experience. Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Dreamweaver and Photoshop or Fireworks skills a must.
Desired Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills: Masters Degree. IA experience, preferably within the high-tech, computer software or Internet industry segments.

New staff person will help with implementation, documentation, and user testing of the software for handheld devices such as Palm and PocketPC devices as part of the Pebbles Research Project. Desired skills include extensive programming experience with Windows MFC, Win32, and PalmOS, along with experience with writing documentation, authoring web pages, and running and evaluating user tests. The new person will collaborate on student and faculty research and development projects, help get software ready for widespread distribution and use, interact with current and future users, and will likely be a co-author of published articles. Responsibilities will include driving to remote sites to help handicapped users with the software and evaluate the software in use.
